Emmerdale’s Marlon Dingle appeared to die on the ITV soap in a shocking twist that left fans asking if Mark Charnock was leaving the show after decades in the village
There was a major death twist involving Marlon Dingle on Emmerdale on Tuesday, leaving fans «broken».
The soap legend, played by actor Mark Charnock for more than two decades, appeared to die in a brutal episode at the hands of villain Ray. His daughter April Windsor had just told him about her accidentally killing someone, before she spilled all about Ray and Celia’s dodgy dealings that she was caught up in.
It was a powerful episode that came with more than one twist, with fans left in disbelief as Ray appeared to shoot Marlon dead. As Marlon fell to the ground bleeding, April sobbed.
Marlon suddenly passed away leaving April devastated, and viewers in tears. But suddenly everything changed, and we realised Marlon’s death was not real.

In fact, it was all in April’s imagination and perhaps her thoughts on what might happen if she did speak out. With that, time went back to the point where she revealed all to a stunned Marlon.
But instead of her murder confession and the rest, she said nothing. While it was clear something was up, she instead chose to stay silent on all of it, fearing the repercussions.
With that, they went about their day and a troubled April left the house. So Marlon didn’t really die, and none of what we saw with April’s confession really happened either.
With April scared into silence, will she ever open up to her dad? Fake death or not, fans certainly believed it was real. The moment Marlon was shot left them stunned.
So when Marlon suddenly died, fans could not believe it and many of them genuinely thought Marlon had just been killed off. Taking to social media, fans shared their distress over the scene as many praised the episode and the cast.
One fan said: «Y’all really got me with that Marlon scene.» Another agreed: «Today’s episode was brilliant! My heart actually broke there for a second thinking we’d lost Marlon.»
A third fan posted: «Wow Emmerdale actually had me fooled and thinking they’d killed off Marlon for a sec. Bravo to the actress who plays April, she was superb and is knocking this sl out the park.»
Another fan wrote: «That part with Marlon really shook me,» as one fan agreed: «So did anyone else think Marlon had died or?» A further tweet echoed this, saying: «They just killed Marlon??»
The comments kept on coming as a viewer admitted: «Not me actually believing Marlon was dead for a sec.» A further tweet said: «Emmerdale really messing with my head tonight making me think that Marlon was dead but it was all just a dream.»
