Pro-Palestinian climate activists demand Gaza ceasefire in London protest

About 100 pro-Palestinian climate activists staged a “die-in” protest at Liverpool Street station, in central London, to demand a ceasefire in Gaza.

Police were deployed as dozens of demonstrators entered the station from around 2.30pm before occupying the concourse.

Banners reading “Climate Activists For A Free Palestine” and “Ceasefire Now” were unfurled at the station, with some protesters dancing to music.

British Transport Police said no arrests were made, and the protest did not disrupt rail services.

A spokesman said: “On Thursday Feb 29, there was a peaceful protest at Liverpool Street station. About 100 people gathered from 2.30pm until 2.45pm, and did not affect the operation of the station.

“British Transport Police were in attendance to minimise disruption to passengers. There were no arrests.”

It comes after Extinction Rebellion and other climate protesters staged demonstrations across the City of London.
