World Gushtingiri Championships debut in Tajikistan, uniting over 60 nations in historic event

Over 60 nations competed in this ancient form of wrestling, with athletes vying for victory in six male and three female weight categories.

The event attracted a large, enthusiastic crowd and showcased Tajikistan’s cultural pride and athletic prowess. 

As gushtingiri gains international attention, calls for its inclusion in the Olympic Games are growing, further cementing Tajikistan’s role in popularising this 5,000-year-old sport around the world.
