The magic of Disney extends into some clever word play with a hidden meaning in their park names – at least according to some fans.
After an NBC Palm Springs segment aired pointing out that Disneyland contains LA – for Los Angeles, California – and Disney World contains ORL – for Orlando, Florida, where the park is located – a fierce debate erupted over the legitimacy.
In a screenshot shared widely online, the two resort names were side-by-side with the letters ‘LA’ highlighted on Disneyland and ‘ORL’ highlighted in Disney World.
‘Coincidence or conspiracy?’ the text on the screen read.
The screenshot was shared to Reddit and X, formerly known as Twitter, where users furiously debated if the configuration of letters was intentional.
Many were quick to point out that Disneyland isn’t actually in LA, as the park is located in Anaheim, California.
‘What’s a Laorl?’ a user snarked in response to the post.
‘Disneyland is in Anaheim, and Disney World is in Lake Buena Vista lol,’ responded another.

‘Coincidentally? Yea most definitely,’ added another.
‘DisneyWORLD is way bigger than any other Disney location lol that’s why,’ shared someone else.
Others questioned why the parks overseas didn’t have some super-secret word play in them as well.
‘If only Disney Paris was ‘disneyPARk’ and Disney Shanghai would be ‘disneySHAck’ lolol,’ wrote one skeptic.
But there were some who admitted their minds were blown by the revelation.
‘This has honestly never EVER occurred to me,’ one stunned user wrote.
Disneyland opened first in the United States, sharing its magic with the world in 1955.
The park spans across 500 acres and is the only one designed and built under Walt Disney’s direct supervision.

Disney World opened in 1971 and spans across a much larger area than Disneyland, sprawling across 27,000 acres across five main theme parks and two water parks.
There are three other parks around the world including Tokyo Disneyland which opened in 1983, marking Disney’s first international theme park.
Shanghai Disneyland, which opened in 2016, and Disneyland Paris which opened in 1992.
In August, Disney World in Orlando announced it is expanding its Magic Kingdom with the addition of a new park section dedicated to villains – marking the biggest change to the parks in over 50 years.
Known as Villains Land, construction of the new area will begin next year.
Chairperson of Disney Experiences Josh D’Amaro announced the park’s upcoming expansion at the D23 Expo.
‘This land will be home to the villains that you know and those that you loathe, which means happily ever after… It may feel like just a distant dream,’ D’Amaro said.
He added that Villains Land will be a ‘fearless new vision for what a Disney experience can be.’
Construction is set to begin in 2025, but D’Amaro did not reveal the opening date of what is considered Disney World’s largest change in 53 years.
