A man suffered burns after biting into a fried chicken snack that exploded in his face at a bar in Brazil.
The customer was seen in video footage sinking his teeth into a ‘coxinha,’ a popular chicken-filled treat in the country, when it suddenly burst as the bar’s owner looked on in shock.
The scalded diner received medical attention at the scene and was taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
The accident occurred last week in Curitiba, the capital of the southern state of Paraná.
Owner Christian Amaral said the coxinha had been in an oven before it was handed to the customer, who regularly visits the bar.
Amaral said that the customer was back at the bar the day after the incident and had some burn marks on his face.

After the footage went viral, Amaral told CNN Brasil that leaned into the freak accident and came up with a new slogan for his establishment – ‘Explosion of Flavor – in hopes of attracting new customers.
‘Something that turned out to be positive for us, right,’ he said.
‘It wasn’t anything serious, thank God. If it had been something serious, right? It could have turned into something negative,’ h added.
‘Since it’s turning into something positive, funny, that’s fine.’
