Jackass star Steve-O has been accused of smuggling drugs onto Love Island.
The American stunt performer, 50, appeared on the celebrity version of the show in 2006 but left the programme after just two days.
At the time, it was claimed he had quit following a row with his co-stars and show bosses.
Yet nearly two decades on from the scandal, it’s been claimed that he was axed for smoking cannabis on the show, which was filmed in Fiji.
Reflecting on his time on the ITV show, Paul recalled: ‘They [producers] didn’t search you or anything like that because we’re not stupid. No one’s gonna bring nothing on there. But guess who fucking did?
‘They got Steve O from Jackass, and he basically swallowed a load of f***ing whatever, and he was like s****ing it out!’

Paul revealed that Steve-O, real name Stephen Glover, then made a makeshift bong by cutting off the top of an apple.
He recalled: ‘So there we are me and Steve-O just smoking away this apple, and you can hear ‘Paul and Steve-O, can you come to the Beach Hut right now’.
‘And they know they can’t use any of it obviously, and he got chucked out. They were like, ‘you can’t do that, man.’ You know, of course not!’
At the time he left, ITV released a statement that read: ‘Steve-O became very emotional last night and again this morning, and was upsetting some of the other celebrities.
‘We therefore agreed with him that he should go home. He has been great entertainment since he arrived on Monday, and we thank him for his contribution,.’
ITV declined to comment when approached by MailOnline this week.
MailOnline has contacted Steve-O’s representatives for comment.
Steve-O was skyrocketed into the spotlight in the early 2000s after he started doing a series of shocking and over-the-top stunts as part of the MTV comedy series Jackass, alongside a slew of other comedians like Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, Chris Pontius, and Ryan Dunn.
Yet he became ‘out of control with drugs and alcohol‘ during the early years of his fame, which lead to him being arrested multiple times, evicted from his home, and eventually ‘locked up in a psychiatric ward.’
Speaking on the What’s Underneath: Masculinity podcast in 2023, he revealed he hit ‘rock bottom’ at the premiere of the second Jackass movie in 2006.

‘We more out of control with drugs and alcohol and sex than can even be believed,’ he shared.
‘We were taking the biggest risks, we were doing the craziest stuff, and everything just worked. It was like magic.
‘I knew we were never gonna beat that. I just felt like, it’s all downhill from here. I remember going to that premiere and feeling like I was at my funeral. I was so mad at that red carpet because it felt like it was like the end.’
He revealed his life began to fall apart in 2008 – he was arrested for felony cocaine possession, which he plead guilty to, and got kicked out of his home.
Soon after, the TV personality recalled sending out an alarming email to everyone he knew, in which he admitted that he was ‘ready to die.’
Afterwards, he said the ‘Jackass guys staged an intervention’ and had him put on an involuntary 72-hour psychiatric hold.
‘I’ve been clean and sober ever since then,’ he revealed.
Yet Steve-O’s struggles continued as he battled sex addiction, admitting that he started to treat women ‘terribly,’ which left him in ‘an endless cycle of shame.’
He recalled: ‘I developed this pattern where I would meet a woman and become infatuated with her… and pour on the charm. Once she fell for me, then like a light switch, I would lose interest in her. I would just ghost.’
After giving up drugs and alcohol, Steve-O battled sex addiction. He briefly dated X Factor star Stacey but soon ‘ghosted’ her, despite having formed a bond with her and her young sons
Steve-O continued: ‘I would feel so terrible about myself after doing that because not only was I not treating them the way I want to be treated, I was actually treating them specifically the way I most feared myself being treated.
‘It was just like, using people and throwing them away. I knew exactly what a piece of s**t I was. It was an endless cycle of shame.’
Steve-O famously dated Stacey Solomon, with the unlikely couple meeting whilst appearing on TV show The Jump in 2015.
They were revealed to have parted ways just six months later, with Stacey left ‘really hurt’ by the situation.
Reflecting on the breakup in his 2022 autobiography, Steve-O admitted that despite being ‘smitten’ with Stacey, he quickly ghosted her, despite meeting her at-the-time two young children, Leighton and Zachery.
‘I was smitten, I lavished her with attention, I got what I wanted and then I broke it off. I had become not only part of her life, I’d become part of her kids’ lives too. And then — poof — I was gone,’ penned the Jackass star.
‘To this day, I still beat myself up about the way it went down.’
