There was an overdose fear on Emmerdale on Wednesday as Chas Dingle collapsed, sparking concern for her health.

The character had been complaining of back problems again this week after an injury she sustained in last month’s deadly limo crash. She’s been taking strong painkillers for weeks and amid this, she suddenly passed out in the latest episode of the ITV soap.

As she lost consciousness she slammed her head against the bar in the pub before hitting the floor. She was found motionless and in a bad way by John Sugden who tried to help her, while an ambulance was also called.

At the hospital John was thanked by Chas’ son Aaron Dingle and her partner Liam Cavanagh for his efforts, before they learned some worrying news. A doctor informed them and Chas that high levels of codeine had been found in her system.

The doctor asked Chas if she had been taking her prescription medication appropriately, following the guidance given. Chas said that she had and couldn’t understand what had happened.

Liam then backed her up with the GP claiming he’d been keeping an eye, and could confirm she had taken them correctly since she got them. As he told the doctor there was no way she had intentionally or unintentionally taken too many of the pills, causing an overdose, the doctor suggested somehow she had too much in her system.

In the coming days Chas’ love rival Ella Forster will be accused if having a part to play in Chas’ health drama. But some viewers think there’s been a mistake amid the drug levels being spotted, and that this isn’t what caused her collapse.

Overdose or not, some viewers are convinced something health related is going on and is to blame for Chas’ recent pain and her passing out. Viewers believe doctors have missed something, and Chas could be in danger or be injured.

One fan posted online: «It’s not Chas’s cancer back is it?» with another replying: «That’s what I’m thinking. I think she got a tumour on her spine.»

A third fan said: «Her cancer must have come back.» Another added: «Reckon Chas got a tumour in her back,» while further theory suggested it might be a blood clot.

Another idea was: «Could it be a slipped disc or would she of been in a lot more pain for that?». Other fans were trying to work out if someone was trying to kill Chas.

John and Ella both faced accusations from fans over drugging her, as some even questioned if Joe Tate was to blame. More will be revealed soon!

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays. * Follow Mirror Celebs and TV on TikTok , Snapchat , Instagram , Twitter , Facebook , YouTube and Threads .
