Taco Bell is getting a whole lot more real estate to continue to expand its iconic brand from headquarters in Irvine, California.

The fast-food chain plans to move from its current 184,000-square-foot office to a 254,000-square-foot campus at Alton HQ, marking Orange County’s largest office lease in five years.

The move is expected to take place by 2028.

“Our new campus in Irvine is an investment in our people and our future, giving our teams more space to collaborate and create,” said Taco Bell Chief Executive Sean Tresvant and Habit Burger & Grill Chief Executive Shannon Hennessy in a joint statement, according to the LA Times.

“This campus reflects our confidence in what’s ahead and reinforces our long-term commitment to Irvine and the broader Orange County community,” they added.

Alton HQ is owned by Irvine Company Office Properties, which purchased the property from Canon U.S.A. for $120 million in 2022, according to CoStar.

Taco Bell will share the campus with sister chain Habit Burger & Grill, which is also owned by Yum! Brands.

Both companies will be headquartered near the Irvine Spectrum Center.

“Working closely with Taco Bell and Habit to customize Alton HQ in Irvine Spectrum around their unique needs reflects our commitment to creating environments,” said the president of Irvine Company Office Properties, Roger DeWames, in a statement to The Times.

The new campus will span three buildings and have room for about 1,100 employees, up from the roughly 970 people the current headquarters can accommodate.

The property will also feature a fitness center, café, outdoor work areas and kitchen space where teams can develop and test new products.

Taco Bell has called Irvine home for more than 40 years.

The chain generated about $18 billion in sales last year, an increase of roughly 13% from the previous year.

Meanwhile the Habit Burger & Grill reached $706 million in sales in 2025.

Taco Bell traces its roots to Downey, where Glen Bell founded the chain in 1962.
