Jordan Travis’ playing days have come to an early end.
The Jets’ quarterback, a fifth-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft out of Florida State, announced his retirement from football due to a gruesome leg injury sustained during his final college game on Nov. 18, 2023.
“On November 18, 2023, my life took an unexpected turn,” Travis wrote in a statement posted to social media. “I gave everything I had to the rehab process but despite all my efforts, my leg never responded the way we hoped. After much prayer and consultation with the doctors, medical experts and my agent, I’ve been medically advised to retire from the game I love so deeply.”
Travis, a four-year starter and Seminoles recordholder, never even got a chance to be the dual-threat developmental prospect the team envisioned.
He rehabbed during rookie minicamp and was then placed on the non-football injury list in July.
The team will place him on the reserve/retired list.
“Jordan has informed us of his intent to retire due to the injury he sustained while at Florida State,” GM Darren Mougey said in a statement. “It is unfortunate that he was unable to get back on the field after working so hard. We support his decision and wish him only the best.”
