Breakfast martini recipe

I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this for breakfast, but you certainly can have it then if you want. It’s probably more of a brunch-type drink, if you want a bit of a late-morning livener.

Try to use a good-quality or preferably homemade marmalade. Make sure it’s at room temperature, or stand it in a bowl of boiling water if it’s quite solid. You don’t want it seizing up in the cocktail shaker, so you can add a little water or some of the gin to keep it runny.

You can make this as strong as you want if you feel like a good stiff drink, or try smaller measures so your guests don’t get merry too quickly.

Timings

Prep time: 2 minutes

Serves

Ingredients

  • 2 large measures of your favourite gin (50-80ml per person)
  • ½ tsp dry vermouth
  • 2 tbsp marmalade, warmed and diluted if necessary

Method

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker one-third full with ice.
  2. Add all of the ingredients and shake vigorously for about 10 seconds.
  3. Strain into martini glasses.
