A large music venue in Moscow has been the scene of a mass shooting with the building set on fire and many casualties reported
The Crocus City Hall, a music venue just northwest of the Russian capital, came under attack by gunmen late Friday.
Videos show several individuals armed with assault rifles attacking visitors, shooting them on sight at point-blank range. The men also targeted the adjacent shopping mall, setting it on fire and triggering a major blaze in the building before fleeing the scene.
On Saturday, Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) said that 11 people, including four direct perpetrators of the massacre, have been detained. The four suspects were apprehended while attempting to flee towards Ukraine, the agency added.
Russia’s Investigative Committee has said the death toll from the attack has reached 133. According to the Moscow Region authorities, 121 people have been wounded in the shooting, with 107 of them requiring hospitalization.
