A much-loved sports personality posted a heartbreaking farewell to his social media followers as he revealed he is entering hospice care because his 19-year battle with cancer ‘has finally taken its toll’.

Detroit fan Andy Isaac – better known by his @WorldofIsaac handle – posted the tragic message to his 90,000 followers on X. ‘Sadly, this is probably one of my last,’ he wrote.

‘Having cancer since 2006 has finally taken its toll on me. It has finally stripped me of quality of life,’ Isaac continued.

‘I have decided on hospice care. Life has been a struggle these last few months and years. I hope I can find some peace in hospice. I may keep a journal of my final days.

‘I’m not sure yet. I’m tired and I’m in pain. I have a horrible foot infection that is preventing me from walking, and I just don’t have the strength to do all the last-minute things I want. But I’ll try.

‘I hope I gave you all a positive outlook on life. I hope I made even the smallest impact. Be kind to each other. I love you all. Truly, I do.’

Isaac was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2006 and, as he told The Athletic, he started writing shortly after.

He became a popular online figure thanks to his humor and passion for the Detroit Lions (NFL), Pistons (NBA), Tigers (MLB), Red Wings (NHL) and Michigan State University.

Isaac has posted nearly 50,000 times on X since 2009, ‘for sports, for the Lions and for the Pistons and for the Tigers and for MSU and so on’ he added.

Many of his beloved teams responded to the heartbreaking health update on social media.

The Lions, Tigers and Red Wings all replied with heart emojis, while the Pistons wrote ‘all love to you,’ prompting calls from some fans for Isaac to be honored by the NBA team.

‘Would love to see some sort of fan recognition in Andy’s honor. It would be well received and well deserved,’ one wrote.
