Ben Affleck is trying to stay busy amid speculation he’s divorcing Jennifer Lopez.
The “Argo” director, 51, is reportedly throwing himself into work and family life to stay in good spirits despite his marital woes.
“Ben’s doing well,” a source told People, adding that the Oscar winner has been working a lot this summer. “He thrives when he’s busy and he’s been working nonstop.”
His children have also provided a boon to the actor during this difficult period. “The kids are still off from school,” the source said. “He spends a lot of time with them, too.” Affleck shares three children with ex-wife Jennifer Garner — Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12.
“It hasn’t been the easiest summer for him either,” the source told the outlet. “He’s just trying to stay focused and make every day as good as possible.”
The star has allegedly not yet moved into the $20.5 million Los Angeles house he purchased in late July, the insider claimed. He remains at his rental home in the Brentwood neighborhood of LA.
Affleck has been staying at the rental since at least May when it was first reported that he and Lopez were living separately despite having purchased a $60.8 million Beverly Hills mansion together in 2023. They listed the house for sale in July, asking $68 million.
Lopez is currently on the West Coast and looking for an LA home of her own so she can “start fresh,” as she and Affleck continue “moving on separately,” according to People.
Affleck and Lopez started dating in 2002 and got engaged later that year. They split up in 2004 but rekindled their romance in 2021 and tied the knot in 2022.
Though the pair have not officially confirmed their separation, they have spent most of the summer apart, including their July 17 second wedding anniversary and Lopez’s 55th birthday. Lopez canceled a planned world tour and spent most of the past two months traveling Europe and in the Hamptons.
Affleck and Lopez are no longer in contact, according to TMZ, and their business managers are allegedly hashing out the details of their divorce.
Things could get awkward in the near future, given that a movie the couple worked on together is set to hit theaters this fall.
Lopez stars in the Affleck-produced “Unstoppable,” which will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
The sports biopic follows the real-life story of wrestler Anthony Robles, who won the 2011 NCAA individual national championship despite being born with one leg.
