Cody “Beef” Franke was giving out his usual Tuesday golf tips on his Instagram page just days before the popular golf influencer passed away from a “sudden medical issue” at the age of 31.
In his final post on Instagram for Barstool Sports, Frankie was giving out tips on how to attack a green depending on the pin location.
“Tip Tuesday is here!! Not every pin location is a green light! Know when to attack and when to put on the brakes,” he wrote in the caption of the video.
The roughly two-minute video ends with Franke telling viewers to “have a wonderful day.”
Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy confirmed Franke’s death in a statement released on Monday.
“Barstool lost a member of our family this weekend,” Portnoy said. “Just tragic news. You will never find a nicer more genuine person than Beef. It’s hard to even process it right now. Just another cruel reminder that tomorrow is never promised and to live each day to its fullest.”
According to TMZ, Franke had been in the Dominican Republic attending a wedding when he passed.
A cause of death has not been released.
He had joined Barstool Sports as a contributor earlier this year, joining the “Foreplay” podcast crew.
“Cody truly loved the game of golf,” Foreplay said in a statement. “He selflessly spent much of his life helping others improve and enjoy the game. Watching golf bring people happiness brought him happiness, and that infectious personality was felt by everyone who met him. He was universally known as the nicest guy in the world.”
Franke had been the head pro at Thornberry Creek Country Club at Oneida in Hobart, Wisc and made golf training videos before his jump to Barstool Sports.
In an interview with PGA.com, Franke called the sport a “home for me.”
