A Coronation Street actress is set to make a return to the ITV soap for another time later this year following their sudden exit from the cobbles amid plenty of family drama
A Coronation Street star is gearing up to make another explosive comeback later this year following their sudden exit. It has been claimed Daisy Midgeley’s mum Christina is set to return to the cobbles for another stint in a few months time.
Charlotte Jordan will bow out as her character Daisy in huge scenes this week, that have been described as being «dramatic and emotionally charged». The character will leave the street behind after almost five years. However, it will not be the last viewers will see of her meddling mum Christina. The scheming character played by Amy Robbins will be back on the soap, according to reports.
«The scam to fleece Jenny might have gone off the rails, but Christina is biding her time before she crawls out of the woodwork to create more mischief,» a source told Inside Soap.
«With the Rovers up for sale and her love life in tatters, Jen thinks things can’t get much worse – or can they?»
Amy has played the role of Christina on and off since 2023. It was confirmed earlier this year that Charlotte, who played her on screen daughter, would be leaving the soap after four years, in a bid to «explore other opportunities.»
Charlotte said: “My time at Coronation Street is something I’ll always cherish. After a brilliant four years for Daisy, it’s time for me to start a new chapter and explore other opportunities.”
Amy returned as «hot mess» Christina and she’s making sure her on screen daughter has an exit to remember.
Despite having a turbulent relationship, Daisy reached out to her mother, insisting she needed help. For the first time, the mother and daughter have worked together as a duo, and unfortunately, Daisy’s step mum Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) is getting the brunt of it.
Speaking of her return, Amy said to the Mirror and other press: «For the first time you see the two women work together. When push comes to shove, she’s relying on her flesh and blood to help her out of it.
«Christina runs to her rescue to finally get revenge on Jenny, which is what she’s always wanted to do.»
It seemed like it may have been Amy’s last stint on the cobbles, as she revealed a return for Christina was «highly unlikely» after the departure of Daisy.
«I’m trying to have so much fun with her in the pub that they can’t get rid of her,» she joked.
It’s not the first time Amy has departed Corrie and made a return. In February 2023, Amy took to her Instagram to share snaps of her hugging her co-stars Charlotte Jordan and Rob Mallard.
She wrote next to the picture: «And so .. Christina bids a fond farewell to her beloved long suffering Daisy and her darling soon to be soon in law Daniel.
“Thank you ALL at @coronationstreet for making me so welcome. As dream jobs go .. this one was hard to beat.» Fans begged for her soap return at the time, with Amy clearly listening as she made her way back on the soap.
The Mirror has contacted ITV for comment.
