Country icon Phil Vassar has recalled the shocking details of his two ‘deaths’ that saw his heart stopping for 30 minutes before he was brought back to life.

The 62-year-old Six-Pack Summer hitmaker suffered a heart attack and stroke in early 2023.

Phil’s health issues left him ‘dead’ twice as he described having ‘no heartbeat at all’ while speaking to Taste of Country

He explained that following his heart attack and stroke, he didn’t remember anything.

However, he did know that his heartbeat had come to a screeching halt for a total of  30 minutes – adding that doctors thought they had lost him.

He told the outlet: ‘I dropped dead. I was dead for 30 minutes a couple times.

‘No heartbeat. No heartbeat at all.’

The country singer revealed that he suffered a heart attack at his home in early 2023.

He noted that he was just felt ‘tired’ in the days leading up to his heart attack before explaining that his ‘genes caught up with him.’

Just three days later, Phil said he then had a stroke, which saw his heart stop beating again.

He recalled the moment doctors attempted to bring him back to life and noted that he was even turning blue as he saw his life flash before his eyes.

‘So she started doing CPR until the crew got there and they brought me back,’ Phil said.

‘They had to shock me 11 times and cracked some ribs. Broke my ribs. But I don’t remember any of that. But they did a heck of a job getting me back, you know?’

‘Thank goodness for medicine, probably would not have lived a few years ago, but now they can stint you and fix you.

‘I mean, you think you’re doing everything right then it all goes wrong, right? It’s just weird that way.’
