Death in Paradise series 14 came to an end last week, with a number of huge questions left lingering for the next series

Death in Paradise enthusiasts are left with a whopping five burning questions following the finale of the hit BBC drama, and they’re absolutely itching for more. The 14th series concluded last week, featuring yet another murder mystery that was tidily solved just in time.

With Ralf Little bowing out from the show, it was the new Detective Inspector Mervin Wilson, portrayed by Don Gilet, who rose to the challenge of cracking the case.

The confirmation of Series 15 has fans buzzing with questions they’re desperate to have answered when the eagerly awaited drama returns. Among these is the intrigue surrounding Mervin’s long-lost brother Solomon, after viewers were gobsmacked by the revelation of his secret sibling.

Not only did Mervin crack the case of his own mother’s murder, but he also uncovered even more family skeletons in Series 14, reports the Express.

Known for his tenacious approach to investigations, it’s no wonder Mervin might be hesitant about encountering a secret relative. But will he and Solomon finally meet face-to-face in the upcoming series? Or are viewers in for additional shocking twists of identity?

And there’s another tantalising enigma: the identity of Catherine’s (Élizabeth Bourgine) enigmatic new beau. The mayor and bar proprietor confided in Naomi and Darlene that she’s back in the dating game, though she stressed it’s «early days» for the fledgling romance.

It’s been ages since she had an on-screen love interest, her last being Aidan Miles, played by Line of Duty star Adrian Dunbar, who turned out to be a killer in series one. Will Catherine’s latest flame be someone we know, or is there a chance he’ll be revealed as another villain?

Death in Paradise ended with a dramatic cliffhanger, leaving viewers wondering about the fate of several characters. Mervin was torn between returning to London and staying on the island of Saint Marie.

Although Gilet has been spotted filming new episodes, it remains unclear how long his character will remain on the show.

Fans are eager to know if Mervin will become a long-time favourite like his predecessor Little or if his time on the island will be short-lived. Meanwhile, viewers are also invested in Naomi’s (Shantol Jackson) storyline, particularly after her encounter with her ex-boyfriend Emmanuel (Bobby Gordon), who has moved on to a new relationship.

Despite rejecting Catherine’s offer to set her up with someone new, fans are calling for Naomi to have her own major storyline in the next season.

One fan took to X, tweeting: «It’s waaay past time Naomi had her own storyline on #DeathInParadise. I demand one for season 15.»

Another burning question on fans’ minds is whether Commissioner Selwyn Patterson (Don Warrington) will return to the show. After being offered his old job back following the controversy surrounding Sterling Fox (Trieve Blackwood-Cambridge), he turned it down.

However, his visit to his daughter Andrina (Genesis Lynea) has left viewers wondering if she might be the catalyst for his return to Saint Marie and the restoration of order on the island.
