DAMASCUS (Sputnik) – The number of people killed in an Israeli airstrike on Syria’s Set Zaynab neighborhood south of Damascus has increased to seven, including women and children, the Syrian Defense Ministry said on Sunday.
Earlier in the day, a source in the Syrian medical service told Sputnik that five people had lost their lives, and 25 others were injured in the Israeli attack.
«Today, at about 5 p.m. local time [14:00 GMT], the Israeli enemy launched an air aggression from the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, targeting a residential building in the Set Zaynab area in the suburbs of Damascus, which led to the martyrdom of seven civilians, including women and children, and 20 more people were injured. The attack caused material damage to private property,» the ministry was quoted as saying by Syrian state news agency SANA.

This area is home to a significant Shiite population, and many pilgrims from Iran visit the region to pay their respects at the numerous Shiite shrines.
Last week, Israel struck the same neighborhood, but at that time no one was killed.
