Has he seen the show?
Second gentleman Doug Emhoff on Monday likened his life with Vice President Kamala Harris over the last three years to the absurdities that play out on the political satire show âVeep.â
Emhoff, 59, provided the revealing glimpse into his experience at the White House when asked by âWatch What Happens Liveâ host Andy Cohen if heâs ever watched the award-winning HBO comedy.
âDo you watch âVeepâ?â Cohen asked Emhoff.
To which the second gentleman responded, âWeâre living it.â
âVeepâ follows the life of the fictional Vice President Selina Meyer, played by actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
On the show, Meyer fumbles her way to power, eventually â spoiler alert â becoming president despite her frequent gaffes, impulsive behavior and quickness to take offense.
Like Harris, Meyer is the countryâs first female vice president, and the characterâs awkward tendencies are often compared by the showâs fans to Harrisâ predilections.
Meyerâs often convoluted and nonsensical speech patterns have been likened to Harrisâ frequent word salad remarks.
Emhoff was also asked by Cohen if he and his wife ever go on double dates with the president and first lady Jill Biden.
âWe’re working so hard, but we’re with them all the time,â the second gentleman responded. âThe four of us together, it’s great.â
He also noted that Jill Biden is his favorite former second lady.
âShe’s awesome,â he said about the now first lady.
Emhoff and Jill Biden were caught sharing an awkward kiss on the lips and holding hands at President Bidenâs State of the Union address last year.
