Jason Bateman and David Harbour are set to star in a new love triangle drama.
The acclaimed actors from Ozark and Stranger Things will headline an HBO limited series titled DTF St. Louis. This seven-episode project is created and produced by Steven Conrad, known for his work on Wonder and Patriot for Prime Video. Both Bateman and Harbour are also taking on executive producer roles.
Francesca Orsi, HBO’s executive vice president of programming, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “We are incredibly excited to partner with the visionary Steve Conrad, whose unique storytelling perspective is at the heart of all his projects. With the immense talent of David Harbour and Jason Bateman leading the series, we’re eager to embark on this journey and share this poignant, emotionally charged story with audiences.”
HBO describes DTF St. Louis as a dark comedy “about a love triangle between three adults experiencing middle-age malaise, that leads to one of them ending up dead.”
This series has been in development for over two years, initially called My Dentist’s Murder Trial, inspired by a 2017 New Yorker article by James Lasdun. While Harbour and Pedro Pascal were initially set to star, Pascal has since stepped back, and the show has transformed into a more original narrative, though Lasdun remains an executive producer.
Alongside Conrad, the executive production team includes Bateman, Michael Costigan from Aggregate Films, Harbour, and Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch from Escape Artists, along with Molly Allen, Bruce Terris, and Kristina Wenson from Bravo Axolotl, Lasdun, and MGM Television.
Bateman is gearing up for the Netflix film Carry-On, which premieres on December 13. He will also star alongside Jude Law in the upcoming drama series Black Rabbit, set to release in 2025.
Harbour is expected to appear in Marvel‘s Thunderbolts and the final season of Stranger Things, both arriving next year.
Bateman is represented by CAA, Lighthouse Management + Media, Hansen Jasobsen, and Shelter PR. Costigan and Aggregate Films are also partnered with CAA and Lighthouse Management + Media.
