An 8-year-old girl was found safe after she took her mom’s car for a 25 minute joy ride to Target in Bainbridge, Ohio

The little girl took her family’s 2020 Nissan Rogue from their house in Bedford on Sunday morning.

Her family reported her missing to the Bedford Police Department around 7am. To their amazement, a neighbor’s ring camera revealed the little girl climbed up into the driver’s seat and drove off in the SUV.

At the same time, police were getting reports of a child driving a car east on Rockside Road that matched the description of the missing vehicle.

In their scramble to find the 8-year-old, a small victory came when a license plate reader picked up the SUV on Pettibone road, WKYC reported.

Finally, Bainbridge police located the vehicle in the parking lot of a Target in Bainbridge and the little girl was found inside the store.

Shockingly, nobody was hurt despite the 8-year-old admitting to police that she plowed through a mailbox on her drive.

It takes 25 minutes to drive the more than ten mile route from her house to the Target.

The Bedford Police Department declined to tell DailyMail.com if any charges were being brought against the 8-year-old since it’s an ongoing investigation.

But in a humorous post on their Facebook page, they wrote: ‘That’s right an 8-year-old took mommy’s car this morning and drove to Target in Bainbridge to shop.

‘Not sure what she bought or if she was even able to use Target app to save 5%. We did let her finish her Frappuccino. We’re not mean.’

This incident is only two months after police released body camera footage that showed them finding a young boy unharmed inside his mother’s stolen SUV.

The tragic incident unfolded moments after the Ohio mother and speech language pathologist Alexa Stakely, 29 threw herself onto the hood of the vehicle as a carjacker sped away, before she fell off, leaving her with fatal head injuries.

She died that day trying to save her six-year-old son’s life after the suspect tried to steal the vehicle the six-year-old was sleeping in.
