Speaking on BBC Radio Wiltshire on Monday, a reporter revealed eyewitness sources had confirmed the move. She said: “I have very reliable eyewitness sources who I trust who tell me that Elton John and David Furnish have bought a flat in Marlborough because their eldest son is at Marlborough College.»
While suggesting Elton and David will still live in their palatial pile near London, she continued: “Now I’m not suggesting they’re moving from their great pile near London to Marlborough to live permanently.
“But if you keep your eye out in ASK or The Green Dragon, you might well see the songsmith Mr John, his partner Mr Furnish, and their sons.”
Elton would become the second high profile celebrity to snap up a new Wiltshire home recently after King Charles shelled out £3 million on a property in Lacock.
Charles’ daughter-in-law, Kate Middleton, was a former pupil at Marlborough College, which is widely considered to be one of the best schools in the country.
In a new interview, Elton admits he broke down for 45 minutes after making his new album as the thought of him dying and leaving his beloved family took over him.
The music legend was performing his new track When This Old World Is Done With Me and says the lyrics by Bernie Taupin really hit home and made him think of his own mortality.
The song is the last track of his new album he has recorded with Brandi Carlile called Who Believes In Angels? Which is released on April 4.
Speaking on the Smartless podcast about his children and «wonderful husband», he said:: «I wrote a song at the end of the album and I just get the lyrics, Bernie Taupin’s lyrics called When This Old World Is Done With Me. And so I’m writing the verse, like, ‘Oh, this is really pretty.’
«And then I get to the chorus and of course it’s about my death. And when you get to my age, which is near 100, you think, ‘How much time have I got left?’
«And you’ve got children, you’ve got a wonderful husband, you just think about mortality. And so when I got to the chorus, I just broke down for 45 minutes and it’s all on film.”
