Emmerdale’s Aaron Dingle finally realised his husband John Sugden was hiding something very dark, before learning there was more to Mack Boyd’s disappearance on the ITV soap
There were yet more tense scenes on Emmerdale on Friday as Aaron Dingle finally realised what his husband John Sugden was up to.
Aaron faced death on Thursday as John drugged him, leading to him overdosing and suffering a seizure. While John managed to ‘save’ Aaron despite causing the medical incident in the first place, he has since continued to keep Aaron trapped at the cottage away from the village.
John has also been keeping Aaron’s pal Mack Boyd captive here in an underground bunker for weeks, after shooting him with an arrow. Mack had found out John had killed Nate Robinson, and since then he learned more of John’s crimes.
But as Mack made his bid for freedom in tense scenes on Thursday, John stopped him before Aaron collapsed in the woods. John had to leave Mack to go and rescue his husband who was in a bad way.

But just as it looked as though Mack had made it away from the woods, the character’s relief was short-lived when John managed to catch up with him once more. The episode cut to black just as John walked sinisterly towards a terrified Mack, wielding an axe.
Mack’s fate is now not known, but his situation has finally been rumbled. Friday’s episode saw Aaron not feeling great, while he told John all about what he remembered from the woods, including the metal door and someone screaming.
He’d heard Mack shouting for help and calling his name, but didn’t realise it at the time. It was only on Friday when he tried to recall everything that had happened, not sure what was real as John claimed it was all in his head, that he remembered the voice was Mack’s.
John denied Mack was anywhere near them leaving Aaron confused. But a shocking moment later in the episode confirmed Aaron’s worst fears, and left him truly horrified.
He realised John was drugging him and after failing to get away he decided to look for a phone. Having pretended to be asleep under the influence of the drugs, he waited for John to get in the shower before searching through his clothes.
But when he managed to turn the phone he found in John’s pocket on, he was in turmoil as the picture on the screen was of Mack and his wife Charity Dingle. In that chilling moment Aaron realised that not only was his husband dangerous and a liar, but there was every chance he’d done something to Mack, who had been AWOL for two weeks.
So what will Aaron do next? Spoilers have teased he will desperately try to find Mack before begging John for answers. It all leads to the deadly clifftop plunge involving the couple and Aaron’s ex Robert Sugden, but who will survive?
