Fani Willis is accused of lying about when she began ‘romantic relationship’ with Trump special prosecutor Nathan Wade in bombshell court filing

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has been accused of lying about the timeline of her ‘romantic’ relationship with the special prosecutor she appointed to Donald Trump‘s election interference case in Georgia.

Special prosecutor Nathan Wade previously stated that he and Willis began a ‘personal relationship’ in 2022.

Willis also submitted in a legal filing last week that ‘any personal relationship among members of the prosecution team does not amount to a disqualifying conflict of interest or otherwise harm a criminal defendant.’

Now the legal team for Trump co-defendant Michael Roman has written to Judge Scott McAfee that ‘Mr. Roman believes the special prosecutor’s statement in his affidavit that the relationship did not start until 2022 is patently false.’

Lawyers for Roman said Wade’s former divorce attorney Terrence Bradley ‘will refute’ the claim that Wade and Willis ‘did not have a personal, romantic relationship before Willis appointed Wade as a special prosecutor.’

‘Bradley has non-privileged, personal knowledge that the romantic relationship between Wade and Willis began prior to Willis being sworn as the district attorney for Fulton County, Georgia in January 2021,’ the filing summitted on Friday said.

‘Thus, Bradley can confirm that Willis contracted with Wade after Wade and Willis began a romantic relationship, thus rebutting Wade’s claim in his affidavit that they did not start dating until 2022.’

The divorce lawyer ‘obtained this information in a personal capacity as Wade’s friend prior to Wade’s decision to file for divorce,’ according to the filing from Roman’s team.

Roman’s lawyers also alleged that Bradley ‘will confirm’ information about Willis and Wade ‘regularly’ staying together at various residences.

It is the latest twist ahead of a hearing next week over whether Willis and Wade should be removed from the high-stakes case in which both Roman and Trump, who faces 13 criminal counts, have pled not guilty.

Willis was accused in a stunning court filing of having an affair with Nathan Wade, who was paid more than $600,000 as a special prosecutor assisting her office.

Former president Trump pointed to the allegations on Tuesday and said it meant the Georgia prosecutor was ‘totally compromised’ and that the case against him ‘has to be dropped.’

Willis and Wade have yet to comment publicly or respond in court filings to the complaint.

‘She was out of her mind,’ Trump fumed about Willis, who was already one of his regular targets during her grand jury probe and since his arrest last summer. ‘Now it turns out that that case is totally compromised. In fact, they say she’s in far more criminal liability than any of the people she’s looking at,’ he claimed.

‘So, I think that when you look at what happened with, they pay a lawyer with absolutely no experience $700,000 who happens your lover or boyfriend and then they go on trips and vacations together very expensive vacations together.

‘And the reason they paid him so much because he was after me,’ he continued.

Willis admitted to the stunning affair with special prosecutor Nathan Wade in her 176-page filing last Friday, saying it posed no conflict.

But in between passages making dry legal arguments, she included a color picture of the lawyer who blew the whistle on her affair, even detailing luxury cruise travel and more than $600,000 in payments Wade received for his work with Willis.

She also dug up the lawyer’s own past statements about Wade – which were highly complimentary.

The lawyer in question, Ashleigh Merchant, even campaigned for Wade at the Greek Festival in her hometown of Marietta when he was running for a judicial post in 2016, according to Willis’ filing.

It states that ‘counsel for Defendant Roman, of course, is well-familiar with the experience and qualifications of Special Prosecutor Wade, whatever contrary representations are made in Roman’s motion.’

‘During a judicial campaign in 2016, Defendant Roman’s counsel Ashleigh Merchant was an enthusiastic supporter of Wade’s candidacy, and described him in glowing terms,’ it said, quoting from her Facebook posts at the time.

It then quotes Merchant praising Wade, saying, ‘Nathan is ethical … Experience matters.’ It says he has ‘practiced in every area of the law and cites some of his awards – which are also included in the filing.

The filing states that Merchant ‘was both a vocal and a visual presence in support of Wade’s campaign.’
