Fire destroys hundreds of shanty homes in Manila port slum | Poverty and Development

A huge fire has destroyed hundreds of shanty homes at a port in the Philippines, leaving thousands of impoverished residents homeless according to the Manila fire department. The blaze took eight hours to put out. Firefighters are investigating the cause, which is often found to be faulty electrical wiring.
