Rowers from Fordham University’s crew team were taken to the hospital after one of their boats capsized Saturday afternoon just off City Island, according to officials.
Nine members of the Fordham Men’s Club rowing team were rescued from the water after their boat capsized because of a “sudden shift in weather conditions,” a University spokesperson said.

The incident happened just before 12:15 p.m. in the Rodman’s Neck peninsula off The Bronx and City Island.
A civilian in a boat rescued the 19 rowers from the water and brought them to shore on City Island, according to the FDNY.
While the school said no one was hurt, the FDNY said 15 rowers sustained minor injuries and were brought to local hospitals while four refused medical attention, according to the FDNY.
One of the club’s boats was lost, the University said.
