Betsy Arawaka, the later wife of Hollywood icon Gene Hackman, had ordered an item on Amazon just a day before her death which seemingly showed one of the duo could have been in distress

The last purchase of Betsy Arakawa has been revealed two months on from her death. Betsy, 65, and her Hollywood husband Gene Hackman, 95, were found dead in the New Mexico home in February, with the deaths initially a mystery.

However, with new information continuing to come out since the tragic discovery, it was found Betsy died of hantavirus pulmonary syndrome, a rare, rodent-borne disease. She died a week before her husband, whose death was confirmed as being from «hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, with Alzheimer’s disease as a significant contributory factor».

It’s not known if Gene was aware of Betsy’s death due to his condition. Now, Betsy’s final Amazon order has come to light, with her purchase thought to have been placed just hours before her death.

Google searches showed the pianist had ordered oxygen canisters from Amazon on February 11, just a day before she is ruled to have died.

The items are intended for “respiratory support”, seemingly showing that either herself or her husband had been struggling to breathe. Some companies suggest that regularly using oxygen canister can help to reduce fatigue, while also providing a natural detox.

Other searches revealed Betsy had been looking for information on health issues. Open bookmarks on her computer on both February 8 and the morning of February 12 showed her history. The information showed Betsy was actively researching medical conditions related to COVID-19 and flu-like symptoms.

Her Google searches included whether Covid cause cause dizziness or nosebleeds. One specific search showed Betsy asking: «Can Covid cause dizziness?», as well as «Flu and nosebleeds».

Intense headaches are a key feature of hantavirus. It’s reported they developed in about half of all patients. However, nosebleeds aren’t thought to be as common.

A health assessment carried out by the New Mexico Department of Public Health a week after the bodies were discovered found dead rodents and their nests in ‘eight detached outbuildings’ on the Hackman property. It’s said this made their $4million property a ‘breeding ground’ for the deadly hantavirus, according to TMZ.

As well as her search and order, it has been revealed there was a plethora of medication spread out on the couple’s bathroom cabinet, as well as her final emails detailing her grim symptoms.

One email showed Betsy messaging her masseuse roughly a day before she eventually died. She was writing to postpone her massage appointment due to her symptoms. At the time, she still believed they might’ve been caused by coronavirus.

However, she had explained she had tested negative. In the message, Betsy told her masseuse that Gene had woken up with flu or cold-like symptoms, but that he also tested negative.

Despite the negative test results, she explained she was cancelling the appointment «out of an abundance of caution».
