Lorde has hinted she may be performing at the 2025 Glastonbury festival – if she can wangle her way on stage there. The 28-year-old singer from New Zealand is back in the spotlight ahead of the release of her hotly anticipated new album, titled Virgin.

And the Royals singer is hoping to make it to Worthy Farm this month and bag herself a performance slot – which would no doubt help boost her profile at the same time her new record drops. Glastonbury 2025 is set to take place Wednesday 15 June until Sunday 19.

A string of high profile stars have already landed headlining slots – as Sir Rod Stewart is set to perform the legends slot and The 1975, Neil Young and Olivia Rodrigo will headline the Pyramid Stage. Other big names taking on performance slots include Charli XCX, Doechii, and even The Prodigy.

While Lorde has not been tied to the 2025 festival, she has made it clear to all she will drop everything to take part in the festival. With some performers yet to be announced, despite the festival being just a couple of weeks away, the star could yet make her way into the lineup.

Lorde told Jo Whiley’s BBC Radio 2 show: “You know, I’m pretty keen, honestly. I feel like, because the album’s going to be coming out, I am quite tempted by what’s going on, because I’ve got lots of friends playing as well. We’ll see if I can pull some strings and get there.”

The singer has previously played Glastonbury’s Other Stage in 2017 and the Pyramid Stage in 2022. Asked what it’s like to stand in front of the Glastonbury crowds, she gushed: “Absolutely unbelievable, enormous.

«I was shooketh at the scale. So many cameras … oh goodness. So beautiful, so amazing. In 2017 we played the Other Stage, which was so amazing, that was kind of sunset and very moody and just the best. It’s the best festival in the world.”

Lorde’s new album is due out on 27 June. Speaking to Therapuss podcast earlier this week, the star revealed there is a track on the new album that she finds difficult to listen to.

She explained, «There’s a song that I love so much called Clearblue that is about unprotected sex. And just the experience of taking a pregnancy test, and like, this flood of emotions that goes through your body.”

She continued: «That whole song just destroys me. I can’t even really listen to it.”

Discussing the track further, she went on: “It speaks to a sort of purity, but the album is quite sexual, so it wasn’t sexual purity … virgin steel, virgin hair, all of these things that denote purity, but I’m also kind of always trying to take me to my teen self.”

She also told fans that they will hear a new side to her following the release of her last album, 2021’s Solar Power. She said: «I love Solar Power so much, and I truly needed to make it.

“I wouldn’t be here with another album if I hadn’t made Solar Power, but I think it showed me that you sort of just have no choice but to be what you’re supposed to be. Me sort of disappearing and being all wafty and on the beach, I was just like, ‘Actually, I don’t think this is me.’ I just am this person that’s meant to make bangers that f–k us all up … I love to vibe out. That is me to my core.”
