Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway has opened up about the challenges of raising her 15 year old son Billy

Good Morning Britain’s Kate Garraway has opened up about the challenges of bringing up her son, confessing ‘it is challenging’. The celebrated presenter, 57, shares two kids with her beloved late husband Derek Draper; their daughter Darcey, 18, and young Billy, 15.

In an honest confession on Friday’s episode (February 28) of ITV’s much-loved morning show, Kate, alongside her co-host Adil Ray, 50, welcomed documentary filmmaker Freddie Feltham and Dr Sophie King-Hill.

The group dived into a chat about controversial influencer Andrew Tate making his way back to the States with brother Tristan after being given the green light to leave Romania.

Seizing the moment, Kate got real about family life and shared her worries about the impact figures like Tate could have on impressionable youngsters, including her own son, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Kate shared her sentiments, saying: «As a mother of a son I feel very much that it is challenging on how to raise that son because they will say things. I would like to believe and I hope I can be confident that he is not a follower of Andrew Tate – I’m pretty sure he isn’t.»

She went on to express her concerns: «But comments are made genuinely on social media, on the playground and TikTok that they will repeat and are attacked for and then you find that they’re just trying to feel their way as well.»

This heart-to-heart came as Kate has poignantly spoken out about the final wish Derek, her husband, had for her and their children. The ex-political strategist passed away in January last year at 56, following a gruelling fight with severe Covid complications.

«I can begin to see a new positivity for the three of us I am hoping. Where we don’t look back and remember: ‘This time last year we were doing this or that with Dad…’ but focus on the future,» she shared with Hello! magazine.

«Derek would want me to be grabbing life, because you learn how fast, and how easily, it can be snatched away. I know he’d be saying: ‘You’ve got to get out and live, because I can’t.'»

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV and ITVX
