Three Greenpeace protesters who demonstrated at Rishi Sunak’s home in North Yorkshire last year will be charged with criminal damage.

The Crown Prosecution Service said criminal charges against Mathieu Soete, 38, Amy Rugg-Easey, 33, and 32-year-old Alexandra Wilson, had been authorised after reviewing evidence submitted by North Yorkshire Police.

Five people, three men and two women, were arrested outside the Prime Minister’s home in Kirby Sigston on Aug 3 last year.

Some activists climbed on the Grade II-listed manor house and draped oil-black fabric over the property. A banner read: Rishi Sunak – Oil Profits or Our Future?.

Mr Sunak and his family were away on holiday at the time of the incident.

Rosemary Ainslie, the head of the CPS Special Crime Division, said: “Following a review of the evidence provided by North Yorkshire Police, we have authorised criminal charges against one man and two women after a protest at the home of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Aug 3 2023.

“Mathieu Soete, Amy Rugg-Easey and Alexandra Wilson will each be charged with a single count of criminal damage, and will appear at York Magistrates’ Court on March 21.

“The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against the three defendants are active and that they have the right to a fair trial. It is extremely important there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.”
