- Casey Mackrell tied the knot with his girlfriend Grace Thoenen over the weekend
- The groom whipped out his computer to work in the midst of the reception
- Many online users bashed him for not putting his job on hold for his wedding
A groom has been fiercely slammed online after he was seen working on his laptop in the middle of his own wedding.
Tech mogul Casey Mackrell tied the knot with his girlfriend Grace Thoenen, both from Florida, over the weekend.
But when Casey – who co-founded the software company Thoughtly – whipped out his computer to work on a project for his job in the midst of the reception, many social media users were left horrified.
His co-worker Torrey Leonard shared a snap of Casey sitting at a table and typing on his laptop as everyone else at the wedding hit the dance floor to LinkedIn, and it sparked a slew of criticism over his decision to work at his own nuptials.
Torrey explained in the caption that ‘Casey had built a reputation for himself’ at work as ‘the guy who sits on his laptop’ whenever they go out to bars.

‘Last week, Thoughtly brought on a customer that needed to launch within two weeks,’ he added.

‘Casey just so happened to be getting married within that two-week window… So here he is wrapping up a pull request at his own wedding.
‘Congrats Casey – now please, go take time off.’
People were quick to respond to the LinkedIn post with their thoughts on Casey’s immense dedication to his job, and many bashed him for not putting his work on hold for his wedding.
‘This isn’t a flex. It’s sad,’ one person wrote, while another agreed, ‘This has to be one of the most depressing posts I’ve ever seen on LinkedIn.’
‘This work ethic should neither be publicized nor applauded,’ someone else added.
‘Doesn’t say a lot about the company either, if he was the ONLY person that could deal with this that day.’
‘Utterly bizarre to post this. This is nothing to brag about,’ read a fourth comment.

‘This guy is [on] his laptop, working at his own wedding and you’re congratulating him? Completely tone deaf.’
‘This is extremely pathetic. It’s his wedding day,’ a fifth said. ‘Work doesn’t come at detriment to your family. WOW.’
‘If I was his wife, I’d be filing for an annulment the next day,’ a different user announced.
‘Of course, I’m sure there were multiple red flags before this. This ain’t it, bro.’
Another person said his act ‘demonstrated a hideous lack of self-awareness,’ while someone else said they ‘aspired to be the exact opposite’ of Casey.
‘Really sad that Casey wasn’t committed enough to call the wedding off instead,’ a different user sarcastically commented.
‘Someone who actually knows how to grind would have called it off the second the contract was signed.’
A screenshot of the post was also shared to X, formerly Twitter, where it went viral – receiving more than 2.7 million views and garnering a slew of more backlash.
