This might be a New Year’s ball drop we’d all like to soon forget.
The estimated 1 million revelers set to ring in 2025 in the Big Apple are in for a very soggy time in Times Square, with rain expected to soak the city all night on Tuesday.
“Unfortunately, rain is expected to move into the New York City area around 7 p.m. and likely linger through midnight,” Fox Forecast Center Meteorologist Stephanie van Oppen told The Post.
“There is a chance of some very heavy rain between 10 and 11 p.m. that will be potentially disruptive for anyone outside trying to see the ball drop.”
Heavy downpours have the potential to persist through 1 or 2 a.m. on New Year’s Day, creating possible snarls for New Yorkers heading home from their New Years celebrations.
The weather is expected to clear up by Wednesday morning.
Temperatures are expected to stay mild, in the 40s and 50s, through the New Year’s festivities, according to van Oppen.
The wet weather will soak much of the East Coast for the holiday, thanks to a storm system that is moving into the Interstate 95 corridor.
Temperatures will likely cool off moving into Wednesday, and the storm system could even produce snow in areas like Buffalo and Watertown, van Oppen said.
New Yorkers, however, will likely have to wait longer for their first snowfall of 2025.
