Anyone who thought the ultimate humiliation of Alec Baldwin had taken place in his risible and widely mocked new fly-on-the-wall TV show with his feral family and his ‘yoga-preneur’ wife Hilaria, should think again.
Things just got a whole lot worse with Hilaria savagely slapping him down on the red carpet for everyone to see.
The couple were asked last week at the re-opening of Planet Hollywood in New York City if their show The Baldwins was returning for a second series. And hubby jumped in after his much younger missus hesitated, quipping about ‘The Hilaria Show’ before she suggested everyone would have to wait and see.
Alec Baldwin, 66, then showered praises on his wife, saying: ‘It’s gonna be great. You’re a winner.’ At which point, she raised a dismissive hand in his face and barked at him: ‘Oh my God, when I’m talking you’re not talking!!!’
And in case the cameras hadn’t caught her full-face volley, she repeated: ‘When I’m talking you are not talking!!!’
To add insult to injury she then told the camera crew, who were still filming, to cut her husband entirely out of the shot. She clearly thought she was the star and left us in no doubt as to who wears the trousers in this relationship.
How ghastly, how utterly humiliating for Baldwin – it’s hardly a surprise he’s aged 20 years since his marriage to Hilaria, 41.
As those who’ve watched their car-crash of a reality-TV show will know, the couple are raising seven totally out-of-control kids who all deserve to be perpetually on the naughty step. Is it any wonder he looks like their grandfather?

And now the clip of the red-carpet incident has gone viral on social media.
It’s partly down to prurience of course that we want to watch this stuff, but also the public’s astonishment over why any wife – famous or not – would so dismiss her husband with the world looking on.
It was excruciating to watch. However well known they are, we got a glimpse of what goes on behind closed doors between husband and wife – and it’s as clear as day that Baldwin is as whipped as a desperate, love-smitten adoring teenager.
No wife should humiliate her husband in that way. Especially as he is the real star here – without Alec, Hilaria would be an unknown yoga teacher.
She caught Baldwin’s eye at a vegetarian restaurant in Manhattan in 2011 and walked over to his table. ‘He took my hand and said “I must know you. I must know you”,’ she recalled of their first encounter.
Ever since they married in 2012, she’s worked tirelessly to exploit her celebrity link.
Along the way, though, her fierce ambition has courted ridicule.
She was notoriously exposed in 2020 for pretending to be Spanish, speaking with a Spanish accent and on a cookery show once on breakfast TV pointing to a cucumber and asking: ‘How do you say in English?’
In fact she was born Hillary Hayward-Thomas in Boston and her only links with Spain were her family’s holiday home in Majorca.
How does she have the gall to treat her husband, 26 years her senior, in this way?
During the interview Hilaria raises a dismissive hand in Baldwin’s face and shouts: ‘Oh my God, when I’m talking you’re not talking!!!’
Imagine if it had been the other way around and a husband had spoken to his wife like that in public. Imagine if he’d dismissed her so aggressively with a wave of his hand in her face, demanded she be cut out of the shot. He’d be denounced from here to eternity by the #MeToo sisterhood and never work again.
It’s hardly the first time she’s shown such a spectacularly tin ear, however. It is she, after all, who is credited with coming up with the idea of their reality TV show The Baldwins. A show that’s been denounced as a ‘new low’ by one critic and ‘one of the darkest and most bizarre hours of television to appear in recent memory’ by another.
Even in showbiz circles, it was seen as deeply distasteful and opportunistic. The couple were flogging The Baldwins as a happy-family TV series around the streaming networks even as he was still awaiting the outcome on the case of involuntary manslaughter for accidentally shooting a woman dead on the set of his Western movie Rust in 2021.
Insiders said the timing of the reality TV series so soon after the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was among the most misguided and tone-deaf decisions in Hollywood history.
In the event, a judge last year dismissed the case against Baldwin on procedural grounds, but many believe he has a case to answer and he still faces several lawsuits, including one from Hutchins’ family who insist she’s been denied ‘justice’.
How could Hilaria and her charmless, cantankerous husband think the series a good idea in such circumstances?
Perhaps in their delusion they thought they’d become the new Kardashians, that they’d win hearts and make a fortune. Who knows?
What is certain is that we saw Hilaria in her true colours on the red carpet in that clip. She not only in effect slapped her husband in the face by gleefully humiliating him, she managed to slap herself in the chops as well.
