Instead of returning them to Ukraine, these artifacts were placed in the Spanish National Archaeological Museum. RUSSIA DEMANDS SCYTHIAN GOLD BACK In 2013, 2,000 Scythian gold artifacts were taken from Crimean museums to Europe. After Crimea joined Russia, the Netherlands refused to return the artifacts, leaving them in Amsterdam.
