I was terrified after seeing the results of my botched Botox injection

A woman has issued a stark warning to others after a botched Botox injection left her with a shocking condition.

Lydia August, 28, from New Jersey, has been getting Botox to treat her chronic migraines for the past three years with no issues.

Last month, however, she switched to a new doctor after moving.

She went in for her first Botox appointment with her new neurologist on September 10, and while it seemed like everything went well at first, two days later, she experienced a terrifying reaction.

‘Two days after the treatment I woke up and noticed my eye was slightly droopy. By day four my eye was completely closed,’ she told the Daily Mail.

Immediately concerned, Lydia said she called the doctor who had administered the Botox but felt like she was brushed off.

‘I told the [receptionist] what had happened and asked her to go speak to the doctor. I was surprised when he did not want to see me or talk to me, despite this complication,’ she said.

‘Instead, he blamed it on me and said that it happened because I touched my face and prescribed me eye drops without giving me directions or the name of the drops.’

Lydia August, 28, from New Jersey, got an injection on September 10, and four days later, she said she was unable to open her eye

Nearly two weeks on, Lydia said she still can’t open her eye at all, and described it as extremely ‘uncomfortable.’

‘If I try with all my might, I am only able to see just a sliver of the bottom of my iris,’ she shared.

‘Otherwise, my eye is almost completely closed and the only vision I have is when I look down and even that is very limited.

‘And my good eye is now doing all the work which is causing it to feel dry and strained.’

Lydia ultimately consulted with an ‘experienced aesthetic MD injector’ who diagnosed her with ptosis caused by Botox.

‘The botulinum toxin contained in Botox injections causes paralysis. But properly administered, these injections can prevent the muscles that cause age lines like forehead wrinkles, crow’s feet, and frown lines from contracting,’ Healthline states.

‘Occasionally, when the toxin is injected, it can travel to unintended areas. In some cases, you could experience a droopy eyelid after Botox.’

Lydia was told that her eye problem was likely ‘caused by an injection error’ and that it could be weeks to months before it goes away.

‘It’s temporary but the time in which it goes away varies,’ she shared. ‘I have no idea how long it will be for me, especially with how severe my ptosis is.’

In the end, Lydia warned others to do proper research and make sure they are ‘aware of any risks associated with Botox’ before getting the treatment.

‘And make sure you get your injections done by a reputable injector,’ she stressed.

‘For those who are limited in providers, make sure to keep an eye out (no pun intended) for any red flags from your injector during or even after your procedure.’
