As a Julliard-trained ballerina, successful businesswoman, beauty queen, homemaker, and mother-of eight, Hannah Neeleman is the ultimate ‘mom-fluencer.’

The 33-year-old makes looking after her enormous brood – while also running a successful company, managing the family’s farm, and balancing her booming pageant career – seem like a breeze, and often leaves her nearly nine million followers wondering: How does she do it all?

Hannah’s Instagram feed looks more like movie or fairytale than someone’s real life; it consists of snaps that show the blonde beauty baking fresh sourdough, picking flowers and preparing bouquets to sell through her business, tending to the livestock, or dancing around her rustic kitchen with her kids.

Her account tells the story of a city girl who threw away her dreams of being a professional dancer to live a simple farm life, and a self-made businesswoman-turned-social-media-sensation who started her successful company from nothing.

Hannah, who left New York City and her dreams of being a dancer behind to instead live on a farm in Utah, often leaves her nearly nine million followers wondering: How does she do it all?

Hannah, who left New York City and her dreams of being a dancer behind to instead live on a farm in Utah, often leaves her nearly nine million followers wondering: How does she do it all?

But many online users have become skeptical about how Hannah achieved her massive success – especially since her husband is the heir to a multimillion-dollar fortune.

Hannah grew up in a Mormon family of 11 in the Utah city of Springville. From an early age, it was clear that she had a knack for dancing – and by the time she was 14, she was invited to study ballet at the extremely prestigious Julliard school in New York City

She also entered the world of pageantry as a teen, earning a slew of accolades and winning numerous competitions.

Hannah and her husband launched their company Ballerina Farm in 2019 - which now sells an array of products made from their livestock like ground beef and pork, as well as fresh desserts and produce

But following her graduation, the budding dancer put her career on the backburner to focus on starting a family after she fell in love with Daniel Neeleman – the son of an aviation mogul who is best known for founding the airline JetBlue.

She moved to Brazil after her husband was offered a position in one of his dad’s new companies that was based out of South America, and it was there that the self-proclaimed ‘city slicker’ discovered her passion for farming.

In 2017, she, her husband, and their kids moved back to the U.S. and onto a farm in Utah, where Hannah began documenting the highs – and lows – that came with running the ranch while also taking care of their many children on her Instagram.

Her openness quickly earned her an immense following, but as with any influencer, along with her popularity came a legion of haters who critiqued almost everything she did.

Even so, she and her husband launched their company Ballerina Farm two years later – which now sells an array of products made from their livestock like ground beef and pork, as well as fresh desserts and produce.

Hannah, who is a member of the the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, recently returned to pageantry – and even competed in the coveted Mrs. World competition a mere two weeks after giving birth to her eighth child.

Millions have now become enthralled with watching Hannah’s charmed life play out in front of their eyes, hailing her as ‘a supermom’ and ‘total goals’ – but others have branded her as a ‘rich girl who cosplays as a homesteader.’

Whether you love or hate her, there’s no denying that Hannah’s story is a fascinating one.

As she continues to make waves on social media, FEMAIL has recapped her journey from an aspiring dancer to a farm girl with nearly nine million followers – who has to continuously battle constant backlash over her lifestyle.

Impressive early years: Hannah grew up in a Mormon family of 11 and was invited to study ballet at Juilliard as a teen – while also making waves in the world of pageantry

Around that time, Hannah also entered the world of pageantry – and was crowned as Miss Springville at age 17.

She then competed in the Miss Utah pageant, where she was the runner-up, and after transferring to Juilliard and moving to Manhattan, she participated in the Miss New York City competition – during which she claimed all three preliminary event prizes in evening gown, talent, and interview.

She was also the runner-up in the Miss New York state pageant the next year.

‘Though he asked me on a few dates in the weeks following [our first meeting], I was busy with school in NYC and focused on my dancing career. But I couldn’t forget his smile,’ she wrote of how they got together on her Instagram while celebrating their anniversary in 2020.

Weeks later, she said she ‘met a family at JFK airport’ who were ‘boarding the same flight as her’ who hailed from Daniel’s hometown – which she felt was a sign from ‘the Lord.’

‘I asked if they knew him. [They said], «That’s not one you want to get away, dear.» Turning, they bid farewell and left me to ponder on the matter,’ she continued.

‘Soon after, I called Daniel and asked him out on a date. We were married three months later.’

Leaving it all behind: Hannah put her dancing and beauty queen careers on the back burner after becoming a mom, and moved to Brazil for her husband’s job – where she fell in love with farm life

Soon after tying the knot, Hannah and Daniel welcomed their first child together, a baby boy who they named Henry, followed by two more sons in quick succession, Charles and George

In 2013, Daniel was hired as the director at a new home security company called Vigzul, which his father had launched.

It’s based out of Brazil, which meant that he, Hannah, and their growing-brood moved overseas to the South American country.

While living there, ‘city slicker’ Hannah explained that she became ‘fascinated with farm life,’ writing on her website, ‘While most of Daniel’s co-workers in Brazil would head to the beach on the weekends, we found ourselves venturing inland, marveling at country’s productive farming community.

‘One day, while visiting a cattle ranch in in central Brazil, we ran into something that shocked us.

‘As the experienced rancher talked about his impressive cattle operation, Daniel couldn’t stop looking at the man’s pigs.

‘They weren’t locked up in stalls. Rather, they were out to pasture munching on grass side by side with the cows.

‘They also enjoyed perusing fallen fruit from a smattering of mango, guava, cashew, and star fruit trees that dotted the farm. From that point on all we could think about was raising pigs and cattle on pasture.’

In March 2017, Hannah gave birth of their fourth child, this time, a baby girl, who they named Frances.

And soon after, she announced via Instagram that she and Daniel had purchased a 100-acre farm together in Birdseye, Utah.

‘We bought our farm!’ Hannah gushed on Instagram at the time. ‘The past few weeks we have spent hours exploring creeks, knolls, springs, and ditches.

‘Daniel and I are still pinching ourselves as it is everything we wanted. Tonight we all piled on the four-wheeler and drove the land.

‘The smells and sounds deserve their own chapter, a chapter for another day. As we were caravanning on the ATV tonight and all clinching on to daddy while enjoying summer wind in our faces, I couldn’t help but hug him tighter. I’m so happy. It’s already been named… Ballerina Farm.’

Becoming an internet star: Hannah began documenting their endeavors after she moved onto the ranch in 2017 – but being so open about the ups and downs of farm life sparked backlash

Soon after relocating back to the States, Hannah began documenting almost every aspect of their farm life on her Instagram account under the account Ballerina Farm

While she often shared the positives that came with running a ranch and being a mom to so many kids, she was also fiercely honest about some of the negative aspects – and her openness about the lows has resulted in her receiving immense backlash over the years.

In 2018, she revealed that a rooster had ‘attacked’ their one-year-old daughter, Frances, while she was ‘crawling about the farm’ – and it did not go over well with her followers.

‘By the time we broke up the melee poor Frances was a bloody mess, with scratches all over her head and back,’ she wrote at the time.

‘Rooster, though a good protector of his hens, had already exhibited aggressive behavior towards humans.

‘He tried to attack Daniel once who promptly dropped kicked him halfway across the farm, ending the conflict.

‘But it’s hard for the children to garner that level of respect without a similar show of force.

‘If rooster had it his way, he would rule Ballerina Farm with a draconian fist in true dictatorship fashion.

‘But this is our farm and we don’t tolerate such behavior from our animals. Therefore, while Daniel was in town yesterday I made rooster noodle soup.

‘Animal husbandry is the work of perfecting the herd. Culling for bad behavior or poor physical stature maintains the farm’s forward progress and keeps farmers safe.’

In an update days later, she added that she was ‘grateful’ there was no ‘permanent damage to Frances’ eyes or ears,’ but that the youngster was still ‘emotionally rattled.’

‘She cries when we open the chicken coop and won’t let me put her on the ground when chickens are in sight,’ Hannah said.

‘This is sad. Sad that our one-year-old girl is very much aware of what happened to her and is now terrified by the birds she once loved.’

The posts garnered immense criticism from Hannah’s followers, with many people slamming her for letting the infant ‘crawl around unpredictable animals.’

‘WTF is a one-year-old doing crawling around with chickens? Please take more precautions. [She] could have lost an eye. This is really awful,’ one person commented.

Another wrote, ‘The rooster was doing his job yet he got punished because you were too careless to keep an eye on your child. Boo.’

‘I liked you until this. YOU are responsible for letting your child crawl around animals that are unpredictable,’ someone else added.

‘It’s YOUR fault your child got attacked and now the animals died because of you. Lovely part about how your husband «drop kicked» another animal on your farm. Disgusting.’

‘Congratulations, YOU traumatized your baby. That’s on YOU, not the roosters or chickens. YOU,’ a fourth scathing comment read.

One month later, she announced that she and the rest of the family were moving to a new, 328-acre ranch in Kamas at the foot of the Uinta National Forest – which according to Vox, they purchased for $2.75 million.

‘The new farm will be able to hold more pigs and will help us expand our growing herd of cattle,’ she shared at the time.

She also revealed that the property contained a 2,500-square-foot ‘100-year-old farm house’ that they were planning to completely remodel.

In February 2019,  they expanded to a family of seven with the birth of their second daughter, Lois.

Then, in March of that year, the couple officially launched their business and announced they’d be selling pork that came from the animals on their farm through their website BallerinaFarm.com.

Since then, Hannah’s farm business, as well as her social media presence – and her brood – has continued to grow.

In addition, Hannah returned to pageantry and was crowned as Mrs. Utah in 2021, followed by Mrs. America in 2023.

During the latter, she went viral on social media thanks to her response to a question about female empowerment.

She said: ‘After I hold [my] newborn baby in my arms, the feeling of motherhood and bringing them to the earth is the most empowering feeling I have ever felt.’

Shortly after, Hannah’s follower count went through the roof, and it has now soared to nearly nine million.

She’s even racked up a few celebrity fans like Jennifer Garner and Hilary Duff along the way.

Just two weeks after giving birth, she jetted off to Las Vegas to compete in the Mrs. World beauty pageant – with her newborn in tow.

Hannah unsurprisingly documented the entire trip on her Instagram – sharing footage of herself getting glammed while simultaneously breastfeeding her infant just moments before stepping on stage.

And while some social media users hailed her as a ‘supermom’ for it, others were quick to slam her and accused her of setting an unrealistic standard for women who have recently given birth.

While talking to The New York Times about the experience, the pageant queen defended her decision to compete, even though she revealed she was ‘still bleeding a little’ ahead of the pageant.

‘A lot of us have kids, and I don’t think there’s any shame in showing I just had a baby,’ she reflected of her decision to step on stage so quickly after having a child. ‘Like, I’m not going to have a perfectly flat stomach.’

But she added, ‘A pageant is not like I’m running a marathon. I’m literally in a chair, getting pampered mostly.’

She also joked of her baby, ‘She’s breathed in a lot of hair spray, but other than that she’s stayed safe.’

Like any online star, as her popularity has grown, so have her haters – and Hannah has faced criticism over everything from her decision to homeschool her kids to her husband’s wealthy background.

Many have pointed out that while Hannah and Daniel portray themselves as a self-made family who built their business from scratch, in reality, he’s an heir to a multimillion company, which has likely helped them get to where they are now.

Hannah has also had to combat rumors that she secretly has a slew of nannies looking after her kids behind-the-scenes – insisting to the Times that she has no help, and has only hired a babysitter for an occasional date night.

In addition, the Times pointed out that many believe she is using her social media fame ‘to push for a return to traditional gender roles while glossing over the privileges that allowed her to have such a lifestyle in the first place.’

‘I think everyone’s mission is different. I find so much joy and satisfaction in being with my kids,’ she told them in response to her haters.
