Good evening. Israel gave the US a “last minute” warning before escalating its conflict with Iran by launching an attack on a military base this morning, Italy has said.
Elsewhere, French police have arrested a man who falsely claimed that he was wearing an explosives belt while inside the Iranian consulate in Paris on Friday morning.

Earlier on Friday, US officials revealed they had received advance warning of an Israeli attack. But Italy’s foreign minister told reporters in Capri that the US was only “informed at the last minute”. Meanwhile, Iran has signalled it has no plans to retaliate after it was attacked by Israel.
