The 1% Club, hosted by Lee Mack, has been a huge success for ITV, but fans have been left frustrated and are now demanding that the broadcaster makes a change

Viewers of The 1% Club have been voicing their dismay over the tiny text used to display questions on screen, with fans taking issue that they’re unable to join in due to the minuscule font.

Despite the ITV quiz show’s popularity since its debut on ITV with host Lee Mack, this has become a stumbling block for many.

The quiz frequently leaves viewers at home fuming – either because the questions are too easy or, alternatively, seemingly-impossible to answer. One question involving a missing word in some sentences left fans baffled and the contestant walking away with nothing. Meanwhile, another question to scoop the final £96,000 prize had people annoyed as they branded it a simple ‘wordsearch’, while another involving a sequence of letters was called the ‘easiest ever’.

Aside from struggling to read the questions and answers, viewers are irritated that cameras frequently cut away to contestants too soon, impacting their viewing experience.

Audiences have hit Twitter with calls for ITV to create an app to ease participation. @jomckay1978 posted: «Almost every tweet about #The1PercentClub is about the annoying shrinking graphics.

«Please sort it out if there’s another series or develop an app so we can play along at home more easily. #frustrating».

Echoing the need for tech intervention, @musictvtweets wrote: «I hope they produce an app for the next series of this show. Might help to see the questions more clearly. #The1PercentClub.»

The clamour for an app continued with @misscatxxxx writing: «#The1PercentClub really need to make an app for this so we can really play along at home.», reports Birmingham Live.

@FullerWater didn’t hold back, remarking: «I mean @itv are notoriously utter s*** at making accessible tv but when everyone on Twitter is complaining that they can’t see the answers properly on #The1PercentClub it might be that they actually do something about it. #DisabilityTwitter.»

Further frustrations were voiced by @5imonJackson who pointed out: «Hey #The1PercentClub, making the question so small makes it impossible to play along. We don’t need to see the contestants while they’re working it out.»

@Alan_Henning voiced his frustration with a tweet: «@ITV#The1PercentClub – How on earth are we meant to play along at home if we can’t read the questions? We do not need to see the audience or the host, we want to play along!».

Luckily, fans demands were very much heard by ITV as a 1% Club app was created for fans of the show to play along at home. It comes after fans were left stunned after discovering host Lee Mack’s real surname – McKillop – following an admission on the show.
