Nick Jonas took a brief trip down memory lane with Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos — and saw a hilarious look at a future Consuelos, courtesy of Ripa.
The Live with Kelly and Mark co-hosts go way back with the Jonas Brothers member, noting on Thursday’s episode that they “felt like nervous parents” when he brought his now wife Priyanka Chopra over for dinner for the first time.
“We didn’t want to mess up,” Consuelos added.
Ripa agreed, “We didn’t want to screw up.”
While Jonas teased that he “didn’t want to mess up either,” Ripa claimed that even her kids “were not acting like themselves.”
“They were acting, like, perfect,” she said.
Jonas quipped, “It was a unique experience for all of us. It all worked out.”
Ripa was stunned that Jonas and Chopra’s daughter Malti is already 3, eventually reminding Consuelos of a “favor” Jonas did for him years ago.
“Listen, I’m going to repay the favor you did for me,” he told Jonas. “When Lola was 14 or 15 years old, she would have a party downstairs in the basement with, like, 10 of her friends. And Nick and some buddies were over. We’d be watching the fights upstairs. Then around 10:30, I figured we’d do a walkthrough.”
Jonas chimed in, “Just gotta check in.”
Consuelos continued, “And we’d do a walkthrough [of] her party with Nick Jonas. I’m going to do that for you, for your daughter.”
After immediately realizing that Jonas’ daughter will not become a teenager for another decade, Consuelos teased that a walkthrough “won’t be easy,” as Ripa claimed that’s “going to be terrifying.”
“You’re going to be, like, with a cane,” she joked.
Consuelos exclaimed, “Wait, I just realized the age difference. It’s not going to mean anything.”
Ripa took it up a notch, rising out of her chair and impersonating a future Consuelos with a cane.
“Oh, yeah, the girls are really going to be shook,” she said. “When peepaw comes rambling in.”
Jonas attempted to soften the blow, telling Consuelos, “I think you’ll still be a good friend.”
