LA DA asks court to withdraw request to resentence Menendez brothers

The Menendez brothers won’t be going free anytime soon if LA’s hard-bitten new district attorney gets his way.

Prosecutor Nathan Hochman asked a court to withdraw his predecessor’s motion to resentence the killer kin, who executed their parents with shotguns in 1989.

Hochman offered a blistering assessment of the case against Lyle and Erik Menendez — which has become a cause celebre among the true crime set in resent months over evidence that they were sexually abused by their father.

Hochman said he would consider resentencing them only if they own up to the numerous lies they have told about the killing of their parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez — and “come clean” once and for all.

“We are prepared to go forward with the court’s initiated resentencing proceedings, and look forward to a resentencing hearing on that motion,” Hochman announced Monday.

“However, we are asking the court to withdraw the previous district attorney’s motion for resentencing because we believe there are legitimate reasons, and the interests of justice justifies that withdrawal,” he added, according to ABC 7.

Hochman’s predecessor, District Attorney George Gascón, previously moved to have the murderous siblings’ sentence reduced to 50 years to life, which would have made them immediately eligible for parole, NBC News reported.

The LA DA’s Office will no longer support that motion.
