He didn’t start the fire!
But don’t tell lefty city Comptroller and mayoral wannabe Brad Lander, who practically accused President-elect Donald Trump for the brush fire in Prospect Park.
Lander on Saturday joined the growing number of far-left pols blaming climate change for wildfires plaguing New Jersey and a brushfire that broke out Friday night in Prospect Park amid a stretch of historically dry weather throughout the Northeast.
However, the Democratic socialist and presumptive 2025 mayoral candidate took it a step further, all but accusing Trump and other conservatives of lighting a match and starting the blazes.
“Let’s be clear: These brush fires are because of drought accelerated by climate change,” Lander wrote on Facebook.
“When Trump/MAGA roll back climate action, they are burning down the things we love. We’ll need to fight fiercely & work more creatively than ever to protect them.”
Lander, who lives near the iconic green space in Park Slope, thanked FDNY firefighters for putting out the blaze.
He added, “my heart aches over yesterday’s fire in our beloved @prospect_park, the place of so many of our family’s greatest joys, from baseball to b-day parties to Celebrate BK, that saved our lives in the pandemic, my respite always.”
Councilman Robert Holden, a moderate Queens Dem, said Lander’s remarks about Trump are the latest example of him pandering to the far-left.
“Brad Pander, the poster child for political irrelevance, outdoes himself yet again with another pitiful display—shameless as ever, because shame requires self-awareness,” he said.
“When his doomed mayoral bid crashes and burns, he’ll no doubt point fingers at Trump before crawling back into the obscurity he never should have left.”
