Israel has launched a new, «unprecedented attack» targeting the regime in Tehran and «its repressive apparatus», Defence Minister Israel Katz said on Monday.
According to reports from Iran, police command headquarters, state-run broadcaster IRIB and Evin prison have been hit in the strikes amid the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict, now in its second week.
The Israeli military also stated it has again struck the Fordow nuclear facility on Monday, hit by US bunker buster missiles overnight on Sunday.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump claimed the US strikes on three Iranian nuclear sites — Fordow, Isfahan and Natanz — over the weekend inflicted «monumental damage» on Iran’s nuclear programme, declaring «the biggest damage took place far below ground level.»
US officials say assessments of the true extent of the damage are still under way. The UN’s nuclear watchdog said the site sustained «significant damage.»
Iran has vowed to retaliate with «everlasting consequences» to the strikes, as its foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, headed to Moscow on Monday for talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin — touching on “common challenges and threats”.
Meanwhile, US intervention in Iran has prompted protests in various cities around the world, including in Europe, as demonstrators took to the streets to protest against escalating fighting.
