Manchester United face the prospect of missing out on Victor Osimhen and Moise Kean as they look to land a new striker this summer, but still face several hurdles.

Adding more firepower is a priority for Ruben Amorim, who has not been able to rely on Joshua Zirkzee or Rasmus Hojlund – who is on Inter Milan’s radar. Osimhen has previously been linked with a switch to the Premier League and continued to score goals for Galatasaray last year.

He moved to Turkey on loan with Napoli deeming him surplus to requirements. An exit from the Italian champions is expected and after rejecting Al-Hilal a move back to Turkish soil with Galatasaray had been seen as his likely destination – only for Osimhen to seemingly now decide he WILL take the Saudi money after all.

As such, he’s expected to link up with Simone Inzaghi and his new side imminently, making him eligible to play in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.

It appears as if Kean, now at Fiorentina, also has reservations over a possible move to Manchester. Despite his future in Florence being unclear he’s not sold on the idea of heading to United after proving himself with 25 goals last term. There is a release clause in his contract which means he could head elsewhere for €52million (£43.8m), but Fiorentina are in negotiations to retain him. Tuttomercatoweb claim that United are the team who have consistently shown an interest in Kean.

However the Red Devils failed to qualify for any European competition whilst Fiorentina are in the Europa Conference League for the fourth season in a row. A switch to Manchester would also not guarantee him regular playing time, which has proved crucial this term after several underwhelming spells elsewhere, including Everton.

United have already landed Matheus Cunha, who proved to be a big hit at Wolves. He set the club back £62.5m but is not a No 9 who can lead the line and Amorim has just missed out on Liam Delap, who opted for Chelsea.

It means a move for Viktor Gyokeres could be back on. The Sporting Lisbon frontman had been linked with a Manchester move given his connection with Amorim but looked to be apprehensive after they missed out on the Champions League.

That stance appears to have softened and the Swede would be open to the move. He is likely to cost £60m, which is less than his release clause. Gyokeres has proved that he can regularly supply goals and his signing would be a major coup for the Red Devils.
