Martha Stewart has left viewers of her new Netflix documentary completely stunned after she made a savage remark about a journalist who wrote ‘horrible things’ about her during her trial.

In 2004, the businesswoman and homemaker, 83, was sentenced to five months in federal prison after being found guilty of conspiracy to obstruct and making false statements to federal investigators in connection with an insider trading case.

Reflecting on the news coverage of her trial, Martha had some choice words for a particular reporter at the New York Post – and audiences had no idea just how cut-throat she could be.

Speaking in the documentary, titled Martha, the lifestyle guru said directly to the camera: ‘New York Post lady was there just looking so smug.

‘She had written horrible things during the entire trial.

‘She’s dead now, thank goodness and nobody has to put up with that crap she was writing all the time.’

Viewers were tickled by Martha’s savage quip and flooded social media to praise her bluntness.

Taking to X, one said: ‘Martha Stewart, I was not familiar with your game.’

‘I don’t care, I love Martha!’ another posted.

A third said: ‘Martha literally has me scream-laughing on this Netflix documentary.’

‘She is so real for this,’ a fourth commented.

‘This doc is brilliant. If you don’t like Martha, this won’t make you – but Martha is authentic and I’m here for it,’ a fifth added.

A sixth asked: ‘Who knew she was SO FUNNY?!’

Martha was found guilty on counts of conspiracy and obstruction and two counts of making false statements in March 2004 after a six-week trial.

She was locked up in October that same year, before being released in March 2005 and spent a further five months in home confinement.

Reflecting on her trial, Martha revealed that her daughter, Alexis, whom she shares with ex-husband Andrew, fainted upon hearing the verdict.

Alexis said in a voiceover of her fainting spell: ‘It was so horrifying and incomprehensible and when I woke up I was unfortunately still there.’

Martha continued: ‘It was so horrifying to me that I had to go through that to be a trophy for those idiots in the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

‘Those prosecutors should have been put in a Cuisinart and turned on high. I was a trophy, a prominent woman, the first billionaire woman in America, «We got her.»‘

Martha’s Netflix documentary launched on the streaming giant on October 30.

Shortly after its release, Martha blasted the film by R.J. Cutler, revealing that she ‘hated’ the final scenes and believed the second half to be ‘a bit lazy’.
