  • A McDonald’s employee filled nearly 50 cups with flies caught in the restaurant
  • His coworker called the resulting cup-tower a ‘colosseum’ on Reddit
  • Some readers praised the ingenuity but others were less than impressed

A McDonald’s employee found a new on-the-job pastime in the form of fly-wrangling in the restaurant.

The unnamed member of staff ultimately caught so many flies in various cups that he was able to build a ‘colosseum’ with the clear plastic traps – which was detailed by his coworker in a Reddit post on the McDonaldsEmployees forum.

‘Old pictures here but a coworker caught like 40 flies in cups, this has to be some sort of violation right,’ the coworker further wondered.

In later comments, he described how his coworker captured the fly prisoners.

In total, there were at the very least dozens of flies throughout all of the cups - pointing at even more roaming likely roaming about the kitchen

‘He slowly moved the cup closer to the fly and quickly swooped it in after he got close enough,’ OP wrote of his coworker’s fly-catching strategy.

The images captured what looked to be a little under 50 plastic cups stacked in four rows on one of the metal countertops in the back of a McDonald’s location.

Each sealed cup appeared to contain one to two trapped flies, certainly putting the amount of flies that had been roaming free in kitchen in the dozens, at least.

Other Reddit users largely responded with amusement – with at least one agreeing that the amount of flies the employee was able to catch in cups probably pointed to unsanitary conditions.

‘Man that’s wild!’ one wrote.

‘Are you not entertained?’ a second expressed via a Gladiator meme featuring Russell Crowe.

‘Pretty cool actually,’ granted a third.

‘At my store I’d get killed for wasting cups but they wouldn’t care about the flies being caught lol,’ a fourth speculated.

Other McDonald's employees took to the comments to laud the fly-catching efforts

‘THIS is true McEmployee spirit!’ a fifth cheered.

And a sixth called out the restaurant for the questionable sanitation, arguing: ‘So that’s 40 flies sitting on people’s food and the fries that’s gross.’

It’s unclear at what McDonald’s location the employee trapped all of the flies.

DailyMail.com has contacted the fast food chain for comment.

McDonald’s has been in the headlines as of late for far more appetizing news than the aforementioned fly swarm in their back-of-house.

As DailyMail.com recently reported, the chain just announced that it’s bringing back its ultra-popular Chicken Big Mac.
