Taylor Swift is up for seven awards, including Best Video, Best Artist and Best US Act, and leads nominations dominated by female artists. The awards, due to take place on 10 November, take place after last year’s ceremony was cancelled due to the Israel-Hamas war.
ADVERTISEMENTThe MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA) nominations have been announced, and Taylor Swift leads the pack with seven nominations.
The 34-year-old pop superstar is up for awards in categories including Best US Act, Best Artist, Best Video and Best Collaboration, all off the back of her album ‘The Tortured Poets Department‘, which was released earlier this year.
Swift, who is now the world’s richest female musician according to Forbes, is up against artists including RAYE, Sabrina Carpenter, Billie Eilish and first-time nominee Chappell Roan for Best Artist.
Last year’s MTV EMA ceremony was cancelled two weeks before the show due to the “volatility of world events”, following the start of the Israel–Hamas war. It was the first EMA ceremony to be cancelled in its 30-year history.

Female artists are leading the way this year, with 10 of the 11 artists with the most nominations being women. Billie Eilish, Charli XCX and Sabrina Carpenter each scored five noms, followed by Beyoncé, LISA, Ayra Starr, Chappell Roan and Tyla with four.
According to MTV, there are 19 nominees who have the chance to bag their first-ever EMA this year, including British and Irish acts like Disclosure, Fred Again.., Fontaines DC and The Last Dinner Party.
Regarding the Best Regional Act nominees, the eclectic selection once again highlights the globalization of pop music.
Fans from 23 regions around the world can vote for their favourites on the EMAs website from now until 6 November.
The MTV EMA ceremony will take place on 10 November, for the first time in Manchester at the Co-op Live arena – which opened its doors earlier this year after numerous setbacks and cancellations.
