Netflix’s The Residence is already a huge hit with viewers, but what should fans watch next?

Netflix’s latest murder mystery series, The Residence, is already a hit with fans and critics alike.

The gripping drama stars Uzo Aduba, best known for her role in Orange Is The New Black, as investigator Cordelia Cupp who is tasked with solving a baffling murder within the White House walls.

The eight-part series is another feather in the cap for Shonda Rhimes, the creative genius behind popular shows like Bridgerton and Grey’s Anatomy.

However, eagle-eyed fans on Reddit have discovered a similar murder mystery series that’s currently available to stream.

The Afterparty, which premiered in 2022 on Apple TV+, has an impressive 92 percent Rotten Tomatoes score and ran for two seasons, reports Surrey Live.

Like The Residence, it centres around a thrilling murder mystery – this time at a high school reunion where everyone becomes a suspect after a death occurs.

Each episode offers a different character’s perspective of the fateful night, adopting various film genres depending on the person telling their story. Viewers can expect everything from erotic thrillers to slashers.

The show was created by Oscar-winning filmmaker Christopher Miller, renowned for his work on The Lego Movie and Spider-Man: Across The Spiderverse.

The eighteen-part series boasts a brilliant line-up, with Sam Richardson (Veep), John Cho (Star Trek), Jack Whitehall (Bad Education), and Dave Franco (21 Jump Street) gracing the screen. Fronting the show is the hilarious Tiffany Haddish playing detective Danner, on the hunt for the truth behind a mysterious murder.

Fans were instantly hooked on its release. One eager viewer didn’t hesitate to express their love for the show on IMDB, commenting: «I binged both seasons over the course of a few days. The episodes are only 35-40 minutes apiece so it didn’t take that long but I just couldn’t get enough.»

Their post went on to urge others to watch, stating: «If you’re looking for a good murder mystery with some comedy then give this show a try. You won’t be disappointed.»

Another fan teased Apple TV+ for not hyping up such an ‘ingenious’ offering, asking, «This is a funny, clever whodunnit with smart writing and an A-List ensemble of comic actors – but I had never heard of it – I am bombarded by trailers and promos for shows 24/7.

«I don’t know what the folks at Apple TV+ were thinking by slipping this ingenious gem under the promotional carpet,» they quipped.

The Afterparty is streaming now on Apple TV+.
