A New Jersey man has been arrested after allegedly beating his mother to death after she tried stopping him from cutting a tattoo off his leg.
James Doran, 30, has been accused of killing his mother, 65-year Lillian Doran, inside the home they shared with other family members.
A criminal complaint said that the pair had allegedly gotten into a heated argument.
‘Witnesses stated that the previous evening, the victim and James Doran had argued about James Doran cutting a tattoo off his leg and walking around the house with a baseball bat,’ the complaint reads.
‘A witness reported hearing banging sounds and a garage door opening at about 4 am.’

Law enforcement arrived at the scene of the crime at 10 am Saturday.

Her son allegedly took off to Pennsylvania after the incident and was chased by cops for a short time.
He was clocked driving his mother’s car at 112 mph at 5 pm that night more than 200 miles from the scene of the crime.
He was allegedly pulled over and stopped the vehicle when he noticed the police cruiser chasing him, but hopped out and fled into the woods on foot.

When he was apprehended by Pennsylvania state troopers, the suspect was allegedly found covered in blood, reeking of alcohol and ‘acting erratically.’
‘The operator refused to identify himself and the odor of alcoholic beverage was coming from his breath,’ per a report by the state troopers.
The suspect refused a legal blood draw to test for levels of intoxication. Three alcoholic beverages were found in his mother’s car.
Although a baseball bat was found in the vehicle, police did not confirm whether or not it was the murder weapon.
Doran has been charged with first-degree murder, as well as multiple misdemeanor and summary charges, including recklessly endangering another person, evading arrest and DUI, reckless driving and resisting arrest in Pennsylvania.
He was denied bail by a judge because ‘proof is evident and presumption great that defendant will not comply while on bail,’ according to court records .
Doran is being held in Bedford County, Pennsylvania. He will be extradited to New Jersey.
It is unclear if he has entered a plea at this time.
