New York Giants fans BURN Daniel Jones jersey and $140 million quarterback is relentlessly BOOED as he walks out after Week 1 disaster

Sunday’s NFL season opener was not particularly kind to fans of the New York Giants – with many so fed up with quarterback Daniel Jones that they’ve taken to burning the signal caller’s merchandise.

Irascible Giants fans burned their Jones jerseys in effigy in the parking lot of MetLife Stadium in the aftermath of a 28-6 defeat to the Minnesota Vikings.

A fan was seen using non-stick spray to spread the flames over two of the quarterback’s jerseys on the asphalt.

Jones, who is in his second year of a four-year, $160million contract, heard boos coming from the over 80,000 people that made the trek out to the Meadowlands for Sunday’s season opening contest.

Some of those fans chose to wait for him after the game as he walked out to serve up another round of boos, as captured on another video.

Jones put up a truly awful performance on a day where he routinely missed receivers with his erratic passing.

He ended up with 22 completions for 186 yards – averaging 4.4 yards per completion and rarely airing out the deep ball that the Giants had practiced all offseason.

Jones also tossed two backbreaking interceptions that brought even more boos from the crowd and sent Giants fans for the exits as early as the third quarter.

The first was a pick-six to Vikings linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel on a screen that was taken right to the house. A second came with the Giants just eleven yards away from the end zone – with Jones tossing a pick to Harrison Smith.

Jones is back on the field after suffering a season-ending torn ACL last year.

The quarterback has an opt-out after this season, with the Giants paying him $82m and taking a penalty of over $22m in dead cap space.

He’ll hope to rebound when the Giants take on divisional rivals Washington next Sunday.
