NFL, college football seasons coming to a vexing finish

It was the Greek god of indigestion, Esophagus, who took a bite then famously asked, “Who made this bleep?”

With the closing of the 2024 football season, there is much to consider and consume in both TV-enriched professional leagues — the NFL and NCAA.

The Close of the NFL Regular Season: Under Roger Goodell, the NFL has placed so many anticipated “good games” in Sunday late afternoon, Sunday night and weeknight day prime-time slots, plus on late afternoons and family holidays — whatever TV, now especially pay-more streaming networks will purchase — that the once customer-convenient, best-weather Sunday start time games — those that for decades began at 1 p.m. — have become the near-exclusive domains for wrecks, dreck and teams relegated to salvage yards.

And the NFL often gets the sites of these games weather-blind backward.
